Anatole Kaletsky in today's Times

Very interesting article by Anatole Kaletsky in today's Times about the way the European Union through the European Central Bank, through bailouts of debtor nations, is following a covert policy for political integration.

Anatole Kaletsky writes:  "The political motivation for tightening the debt yoke on Greece, Ireland and Portugal is even clearer.  By turning these countries into permanent debtors to the ECB and the various EU bailout funds, Brussels and Frankfurt are enormously increasing the power of centralised European institutions at the expense of nation states."

Are they using European taxpayers money to "buy" territory for their unitary state?  Perhaps like the USA purchased Alaska from a hard-up Russian tsar?  Or the Lousiana Purchase by cancelling French debts to the USA?

Anatole Kaletsky is the author of Capitalism 4.0
