Were the Mau Mau fighters "brave"?
Unusual value judgment broadcast by the pressure group Liberty (Director Shami Chakrabarti).
Were the Mau Mau fighters "brave"?
IRA insurgents were also "tortured" at British hands (and British soldiers were tortured by IRA insurgents including at least one admitted castration) and yet only someone extremely partisan would describe the IRA as brave.
Is it possible that Shami Chakrabarti and her Liberty team are ignorant of what the Mau Mau insurgents actually did? (not just to white immigrants and Asian immigrants in Kenya but to other Africans).
Or do they know what they did and are deliberately choosing to endorse that behaviour with the positive adjective "brave"?
Either way it doesn't make them look good.
