Understanding the B demographic 2

This demographic is in search of meaning - they are culturally adrift.  They have rejected the cultural narrative of older generations and have retreated (is retreated the right word?) into a self-referencing narrative that is immediate without past or future (is this necessarily a bad thing - they are living in the moment, which is supposed to be good is it not?).  This is accompanied by a pessimistic outlook on life.

High rates of self-defeating activity and law-breaking which older generations ascribe to self-hatred (self-hatred is a cliche in my opinion, but the idea is repeated several time that this demographic is wallowing in self-hated and that self-hated has become a cultural product that they enjoy).

Supposedly the demographic receives undue attention from the police (but why? - if it is as a result of excessive law breaking then they can hardly complain the attention is undue).

Contemptuous and exploitative attitude towards women.
