There was a sort of dismal inevitability that the Reverend Giles Fraser would jump on the gay marriages bandwagon.
Can you imagine the embarrassment he must be causing to his parishioners (most of whom I guess will be elderly ladies who will have a very hazy idea about what the consummation of a gay relationship involves).
The only true marriages are sacramental marriages. Anything else is not a marriage, as Giles Fraser must know. If the Anglican hierarchy had any moral courage they would insist that all civil registrations, of whatever orientation, are redesignated civil partnerships (because that is all they are - voluntary contracts that can be rescinded at will).
The error was made in 1836 by allowing civil registrations to be called marriages.
