It has just been confirmed that staff at the Institute where I work will get 4th and 5th June as paid leave to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
As the two days are "National Holidays" and not "Bank Holidays" the Institute was trying to argue that there was no contractual requirement to give staff the time off (our contracts say 21 days paid holiday plus bank holidays - no mention of national holidays).
How many other employers are trying to deny their staff the time off?
