Steve Bell interrupting and shouting-down Stephen Pollard

Steve Bell came across as a bully on the Today programme this morning in a discussion with Stephen Pollard (editor of the Jewish Chronicle).

The discussion (about anti-semitism) was dominated by Steve Bell interrupting and shouting-down Stephen Pollard so that he was hardly able to speak.

And is not bullying the single most characteristic feature of a Steve Bell cartoon?

I'm all in favour of cartoons that "bully" the rich and powerful. I used to be a fan of Steve Bell. But no longer. He's shown himself to be a vile antisemite and/or ignorant buffoon.

He is often very funny, but the humour is usually based on cruelty - what concerns me is that there doesn't seem to be any editorial curb to that cruelty Who can tell whether he is genuinely anti-semitic; or includes an element of anti-semitism in his work as a way of showing sympathy for the Palestinians; or thinks anything, including anti-semitism, is fair game if it contributes to the objective of attacking America's most important ally in the Middle East (as a way of attacking America).
