Articles in yesterday's Guardian by Amelia Hill about the high incidence of foreign doctors in the United Kingdom being "struck off".

The final paragraph was astounding (not least in the incuriosity of Amelia Hill in not pursuing the obvious question raised).
Someone called Dr Vivienne Nathanson tells us "The UK is still short of doctors..."
STILL short?
With two million unemployed?
Of course, I know that it takes many years to train a doctor.
But we have HAD many years to get this right. We have had the last Labour government pouring money into the NHS. We have seen them giving doctors the most generous salaries you can imagine.
So why is the educational system not turning out enough doctors? Where exactly in the system from pre-school to university are things going wrong? Who exactly has been responsible for this shortage? (let's have some names please Amelia Hill).
These are not low skilled jobs where "British people don't want to do the work" (to use the lie usually trotted out by the left to explain why immigration should be completely unrestricted).
Doctors have massive incomes and complete job security.
So why is the educational system not turning them out?
Someone somewhere needs a bloody good kicking.
