What is wrong with these people?

Billy Hayes, General Secretary of the CWU, indicates that the Collins review and the run-up next year's Spring Conference will become a fight over who runs the Labour party:  http://labourlist.org/2013/08/labour-could-go-bankrupt-or-become-a-state-funded-liberal-party-unless-theres-a-re-think-on-opt-in/

Presumably this is an attempt to head off Ed Miliband's reform of links with the unions by promising mutually-assured destruction.

Mr Hayes complains of "battering" by the Ed Miliband leadership and threatens "bankruptcy" for the Labour party if the proposals are pushed through.

The unions would be mad to undermine their own political leadership at the Spring Conference, barely a year before the general election.

What is wrong with these people?  Elsewhere this morning Mr Miliband is jeered at as a "wonk" and a "Zen socialist".  It seems he can do nothing right.

Labour is lucky to have Ed Miliband as leader - he is thoughtful and civilised and has a thankless job trying to hold together all these rebellious factions.
