According to Labour MP George Mudie the Labour party is "hesitant and confused":

This is not the time Mr Mudie to "start getting wobbly" (to quote Mrs Thatcher).
You will have to go with what you've got.
The idea that twenty-two months before a general election you are going to come up with imaginative new ideas, test them and work them up into credible policies, and then brief and train the activists so that they are all on-side and know the arguments is fanciful in the extreme.
It is far too late in the day to do that.
We are in the run-up to an election.
In the run-up to an election you should be able to shake activists awake at 3am in the morning and shout "what are our nine top policies and why will people vote for them" and they should be able to tell you word perfect with no hesitation.
Part of the problem Mr Mudie (if you will allow me to give you some advice) is that Ed Miliband is too nice. He was ruthless in taking the leadership, but since then it has been leniency leniency leniency all the way. The very fact that you are going on national radio shooting your mouth off is an example of the appalling lack of discipline in the Labour party.
Elections are very simple really. Electioneering consist of a transfer of enthusiasm from the politician to the voter. But if you do not have that enthusiasm in the first place Mr Mudie you really are dead in the water.
