He says that "Only a minority of voters thought Britain would have a firmer policy on immigration under a Conservative government rather than a coalition".
However a firm but fair policy would be in the three-point plan to address the issue of immigration without consent:
1 Halt all future immigration unless it has specific consent from the electorate (any party wishing to bring more people into the country to publish the number in their manifesto and not subsequently go over this number without a renewed mandate).
2 Use the tax system to move on economic migrants who are not serious about joining British society - the tax codes to bring down the wages of migrants to the approximate level of the country they have come from.
3 Implement a national policy of assimilation to completely merge all communities within two generations, the assimilation criteria to be linguistic, cultural, economic etc.
As for the argument that it is "impossible" to stop immigration from the EU, note needs to be taken of the events at Westminster last Thursday when an opportunistic party leader was able to channel popular feeling to entirely trash an international relationship.
