The Conservative party will not tear itself apart over "Europe" because there is no significant pro-EU faction left in the Conservative party - they have all died, retired or defected to the Lib Dems.
As for David Cameron, he is a self-avowed Euro-sceptic, the only Prime Minister ever to have used the national veto at an EU summit, and has promised a referendum on whether the people wish the United Kingdom to remain part of this out-moded sclerotic elitist geopolitical bloc.
Does that sound like a pro-European to you?
I am confident that when the time comes David Cameron will claim his place in history by extricating the United Kingdom from the EEC-EC-EU gintrap.
