After an election, especially an election one's party has won, there is a feeling of euphoria accompanied for a desire to have a little rest.
This is a fatal mistake.
Now is not the time to rest.
Now is the time to take your canvass returns and go back to all those who said they would support you and ask them to join the party.
Knock on their doors. Thank them for voting for you (if they did not actually vote for you they are unlikely to admit it). Tell them they are exactly the sort of people you need in the party and ask if they are interested in joining at a discount rate.
In this post-election period (which lasts three weeks maximum) you have the most promising time to expand your party membership - make use of this golden period as it will not come round again for a long while.
The more people you sign up now the easier your life will be in 2015.
