Calling it a hurricane makes them sound more important
After the strong winds in the night the lawns are littered with conkers.
The weather presenters have been describing the winds as "the remnants of Hurricane Katia". This is a ridiculous thing to say. It's not a hurricane, it's just a strong wind.
Presumably they think calling it a hurricane makes them sound more important.
