Hail this morning, and then things brightened up a little. But in the early afternoon snow began to fall. I had to go out at 4, and when I arrived I walked a little way to the dry stone wall above the valley. The air felt very cold and clean.
As the sun went down and the sky grew darker wonderful mauve-grey colours appeared, until the whole landscape was tinged with violet.
