The knightly dude’s coat of arms, in painted alabaster, displayed in a freestanding roundel above the marble arch of his tomb. On top of the helmet is a crest of a black eagle wearing a black and gold crown. The shield itself is split into sixteen sections which display the various coats of arms of his ancestors – as he has sixteen divisions this means that his parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents were all from knightly families entitled to bear arms. This guy was about as noble as you could get.
