Globalisation has made distance largely irrelevant

On This Week last night Andrew Neil said that republicanism in Australia had evaporated (he was there during the recent Royal Tour by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge).

A continuing union of the head of state raises the question of whether other unions might be considered.

Would a customs union with Australia make economic sense were the United Kingdom to leave the EU?

And what is the combined economic power of Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom?

Globalisation has made distance largely irrelevant.
