Arguing in favour of a closed shop

I think James Bloodworth can't see the wood for the trees in his article on the Left Foot Forward website about how Labour should "woo" the working class:

"Free movement has to go with trade unionism" he asserts.

He seems oblivious to the fact that a nation state, controlling it's own borders, is a trade union writ large (the clue is in the title United Kingdom).

Indeed, those of us who wish the United Kingdom to leave the EU are arguing in favour of a closed shop.

And like any union we do not want freeloading scabs coming in and enjoying the benefits without paying their dues or supporting their brothers and sisters.
